The Central Bank of Myanmar (CBM) has announced that it will sell 5 million Chinese Yuan and 25 million Thai Baht to importers through the foreign exchange market (FX Trading Platform).
In October, CBM sold various amounts of USD, Yuan, and Baht on different dates in the FX market: on October 2, it sold over 1.2 million Yuan (1,247,962.77) and over 10 million Baht (10,230,000); on October 3, approximately USD 800,000 at an exchange rate of 3,535 MMK per dollar, over 1.2 million Yuan, and over 1 million Baht; on October 4, about USD 13.122 million at 3,543 MMK per dollar, and over 280,000 Yuan; on October 7, over 10 million Baht; on October 9, over 660,000 Yuan at an exchange rate of 507 MMK per Yuan; on October 10, approximately USD 12.4 million at 3,554 MMK per dollar and over 38 million Baht; on October 11, over USD 700,000 at 3,554 MMK per dollar; and on October 15, over USD 6 million at the same rate and over 199 million Baht.
According to a release on October 20, the Central Bank sold USD 35 million to fuel and edible oil importers.
