A shooting competition between Myanmar and Russian military cadets was held to enhance cooperation and friendship between the two countries’ armed forces, according to reports.

Hosted by Myanmar, the Myanmar–Russia Cadet Shooting Competition took place at the 600-meter ASEAN shooting range of the Tatmadaw (Army) Officers Training School in Bahtoo from November 1 to 3.

The event was attended by Lieutenant General Aung Myo Thant, Deputy Chief of Training of the Office of the Commander-in-Chief (Army), along with senior officers, judges, and competing cadet teams. Representing Russia were Lieutenant Colonel Andrey Semenenko, leader of the Russian Armed Forces shooting team, Deputy Military Attaché Lieutenant Colonel Aleksei Oleinikov, coaches, and participating cadets.

During the opening ceremony, the national flags of both countries were carried into the range and raised in honor. Lieutenant General Aung Myo Thant delivered the opening remarks, followed by a commemorative group photo.

Over the three days, cadets competed in various shooting categories, including the 300-meter rifle and 25-meter pistol contests. The event concluded with a closing and award ceremony, where Lieutenant General Aung Myo Thant gave remarks and presented prizes to individual and team winners.

The Myanmar–Russia Cadet Shooting Competition aimed to promote mutual friendship, strengthen cooperation between the two armed forces, foster closer relations among cadets, and encourage the exchange of shooting techniques and sportsmanship.

During their stay in Bahtoo, the Russian delegation—led by Lieutenant Colonel Semenenko, along with coaches and cadets—visited the Aung Myay Zeya Mingalar Pagoda, Bahtoo Lake, Yatsauk (Lawksawk) Central Market, and Bodhi trees donated by local residents for the communal Kathina offering ceremony.
