Myanmar ambassador attends 55th ASEAN Day held in Vienna

Myanmar Ambassador and Permanent Representative to the United Nations, and current ASEAN-Vienna Committee’s Chair U Min Thein delivered opening remarks at the 55th ASEAN Day held at the Vienna International Centre on 2 September according to Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Mr. Jean-Luc Lemahieu, Director of the Division for Policy Analysis and Public Affairs, also gave remarks at the event on behalf of the Director General of the United Nations Office in Vienna (UNOV).

Later, Permanent Missions of ASEAN countries in Vienna presented ASEAN national costumes show and served the guests with their traditional cuisines.

Present on the occasion were representatives and officials from  the Office of the Director-General (UNOV) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO) and the Comprehensive Nuclear-Test-Ban Treaty Organization (CTBTO), a representative of the Federal Ministry of European and International Affairs of Austria, Permanent Representatives and their spouses as well as representatives from the Permanent Missions  based in Vienna, totaling more than 200 guests.

The ASEAN-Vienna Committee is composed of the Embassies and Permanent Mission of Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, Philippines, Thailand and Vietnam, and the Permanent Mission of Singapore. The Embassy and Permanent Mission of Myanmar is serving the current chairmanship of ASEAN-Vienna Committee for 6 months from July to December 2022.
