Myanmar has exported products worth approximately USD 2.5 billion and earned a total of USD 3 billion from border trade, encompassing both exports and imports, within the first seven months of the 2024–25 fiscal year, according to the Ministry of Commerce.

From April 1 to October 25 of the current fiscal year, the country generated over USD 15.4 billion in foreign trade. This has resulted in a trade surplus exceeding USD 1 billion, as reported by the ministry.

In the previous fiscal year (2023–24), which spanned from April 1 to March 31, Myanmar recorded a total trade volume of USD 30.09 billion. However, imports exceeded exports by USD 854.3 million, resulting in a trade deficit for that period.

Myanmar conducts international trade through land borders and maritime routes. The country exports agricultural products, animal products, minerals, forest products, and finished industrial goods, while importing capital goods, intermediate goods, raw materials for CMP (cutting, making, and packaging) enterprises, and consumer goods.

To enhance export performance, Myanmar is implementing the National Export Strategy (NES) 2020–2025. The strategy prioritizes sectors such as agriculture, garments and apparel, industrial and electronic devices, fisheries, forest products, digital manufacturing and services, logistics, quality management, trade information services, innovation, and entrepreneurship.
