MR plans to introduce e-ticketing service at four major stations

Myanma Railways (MR) is planning to introduce e-ticketing service at Yangon, Mandalay, Mawlamyine and Pyay stations.

The MR is upgrading the stations, signaling systems and railway crossings in Yangon-Mandalay railway section and railway tickets can be bought online.

"We are planning to sell railway tickets at Yangon, Mandalay, Mawlamyine and Pyay stations via online so that travelers can easily purchase them,” said an official from the MR.

It has been reported that the MR has been running the Yangon-NayPyiTaw-Mandalay Airbag Special Express Train from April 7 to facilitate passengers' travel.

The MR started special train schedules from Yangon to Mandalay, Nay Pyi Taw, Mawlamyine and Pyay starting April 7 to facilitate passengers' travel during Thingyan period.

Thingyan special train schedules run by the MR are Yangon-Mandalay-Yangon, Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon-Pyay-Yangon and Yangon-Mawlamyine- Yangon trips were operated by special trains in addition to regular trains.

The MR run Yangon-Mandalay, Mandalay-Yangon and Nay Pyi Taw-Yangon Thingyan special trains on April 7 and Yangon-Mandalay, Mandalay-Yangon, Yangon-Mawlamyine, Mawlamyine-Yangon, Yangon-Pyay and Pyay-Yangon special trains on April 8 and Yangon-Mandalay, Mandalay-Yangon Yangon-Nay Pyi Taw, Yangon-Mawlamyine, Mawlamyine-Yangon, Yangon-Pyay and Pyay-Yangon special trains on April 17.

Passengers who ride the train should buy upper class tickets three days in advance. Ordinary class tickets will be sold one day in advance, and departmental staff will be able to purchase them in advance with applications.

The express train routes being operated by the MR are Yangon-Mandalay, Yangon-Pyay, Yangon-Mawlamyine and Yangon-Bagan.

The MR is operating passenger and freight trains on various routes including four express trains and two mail service trains on the Yangon-Mandalay section, and two express trains and two mail service trains on the Yangon-Pyay Road section as long-distance train journeys and the Yangon-Mawlamyine night train.

The MR is operating four express trains and two mail service trains on the Yangon-Mandalay section, two express trains on the Yangon-Mawlamyine section, two express trains and two mail service trains on the Yangon-Pyay section, two trains on the Yangon-Bago section, two mail service trains on the Pathein-Hintada-Kyangin section, two passenger freight trains on the Pyinmana-Taungdwingyi section, two mail service trains on Thazi-Shwenyaung section, two express trains on Pyin Oo Lwin-Gokteik section, four trains on Pyitawtha-Yechanpyin section, two passenger freight trains on Taunggyi-Banyin section totaling 28 passenger freight trains and 26 Yangon circular trains, totaling 54 passenger trains.
