Mortar shell explosion near Ye Da Khun village in Thanphyuzayat township claims one life, injures five including a child

A mortar shell explosion near Ye Da Khun Village in Thanphyuzayat Township, Mon State, resulted in the death of one man and severe injuries to five others, including a child, according to local reports.

The incident occurred on the night of August 15 when a mortar shell landed and exploded inside a rubber plantation near Ye Da Khun Village, a local resident said.

The resident further explained, “Since August 13, clashes have been occurring along the Thanphyuzayat-Anankwin-Three Pagodas Pass Road. On the night of August 15, mortar shells fell near Ye Da Khun Village. One of the shells hit the rubber plantation, leading to casualties.”

The mortar shell explosion inside the rubber plantation resulted in the immediate death of U Aung Myint, a 50-year-old man, at the scene. Five others sustained severe injuries, including a 2-year-old child, two girls aged 13 and 16, a 36-year-old woman, and a 32-year-old man, according to a local resident.

The injured were transported to Thanphyuzayat Township Hospital and Mawlamyine General Hospital for treatment, as reported by locals.
