More than Ks.30 billion worth of ICE seized in Tharzi Township, Mandalay Region

More than Ks.30 billion worth of ICE (Methamphetamine) planning to transport abroad using waterways via Yangon was seized in Tharzi Township, Mandalay Region in the evening of March 10 according to Myanmar Police Force.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team comprising members of anti-narcotics task force examined an eight-wheel fuel tanker, heading to Tharzi from Kalaw, driven by Thein Win Swe aka Mae Gyi, accompanied by Kyaw Khaing Htwe at the Kyweteson checkpoint in Tharizi Township around noon on March 4. They seized a total of 1.5 tonnes of Methamphetamine worth K30 billion that were hidden from the vehicle’s body. Upon further interrogation, police arrested Ko Phone (aka) Phone Naing Win, a trafficker, at his house in Taunggyi Township with a Ford auto at noon on 5 March.

The ICE currently seized was wrapped as green tea packages. Offenders admitted the seized drugs were carried from Shan State to Yangon Region and will be transported abroad by sea. Police have taken legal action against the offenders and an investigation is underway to identify those involved in the case.
