More than 100 Myanmar migrant workers who allegedly paid brokers up to 30,000 baht each to enter Thailand illegally were arrested along with three pickup trucks, according to reports from Thailand.

The arrests took place early in the morning of January 29 in Kanchanaburi District, where Thai authorities intercepted three pickup trucks transporting Myanmar nationals who had entered the country unlawfully.

When officials ordered the vehicles to stop for inspection, two drivers reportedly fled the scene, while one driver was arrested.

According to reports, two of the pickup trucks were carrying a total of 112 Myanmar nationals in overcrowded conditions, while the third vehicle was transporting bags of clothing. During questioning, Thai authorities found that none of the Myanmar nationals possessed legal entry documents. The migrants reportedly told officials that they were heading to Bangkok and Rayong, while some planned to continue onward to Malaysia. They said they had paid brokers between 20,000 and 30,000 baht each to arrange the journey.
