More places in Taunggyi under lockdown

65 houses in Taunggyi and Ayethayar towns in Taunggyi Township have been put under Stay at Home measure, and two streets under Lockdown, disclosed Taunggyi township Department of General Administration.

Till 24th Nov. In Taunggyi town, 8 houses in Mingalar Oo, one in Yeayekwin, 3 in Hpayarphyu, one in Zaywaing, 2 un Ngyaungphyu Sakhan, about 15 houses had been put under Stay at Home measure, and two streets, Zawtika Lane (1) and Zawtika Lane (2) in Mingalar Oo ward have been under lockdown, as said by U Sai Kyaw Htun, Taunggyi Township Deputy Administrative Officer.

He said, "Streets under lockdown are Zawtika Lane 1 and Zawtika Lane 2 in Mingalar Oo ward, and 15 houses under Stay at Home measure. About Zawtika Lane 3 we will know tomorrow. Tested for loss of sense of smell. The same with the market area".

It is learnt that a total of about 50 houses from Ayethayar town, ward 5, ward 7, ward 8, ward 9 and ward 10 have been placed under Stay at Home measure. Although some donors provide meals, there are some shortcomings.

U Win Naing Oo, member of Committee for the Prevention and Treatment of COVID-19, Ayethayar, said,

"There is no streetwise donation. Many in ward 9. Stay at Home measure started on 12 November. We provided all the needful. We did not collect from wellwishers. Vegetables, fruits and rice were donated. They were sent by Ko Wint Htei. For the remaining 89 the committee provided. Ko Wint Htei provided for 16 persons. There was rice, oil and a bit of fruits. There are about 50 houses in 6 wards. The covid committee of Ayethayar solved the problem of meals. They provided basic dry groceries for a week. At the moment lockdown for families is 14 days and 7 days Home making out 21 days. It started on 14 November. There are about 8 people infected by the virus in Ayethayar. Some have not been discharged ".

In Ayethayar town there are a lot of grassroot level folks with difficulty for their livelihood. Being daily wagers they have nothing saved up, and so have difficulty for livelihood in the long run . There is a need for donors for them, said U Win Naing Oo.
