A monk and a post-primary school head were killed while four teachers were kidnapped in Paukchaung Alesu Village, Pauk Township, Magway Region, on December 6, the information team of the State Administration Council reported.

At about 3.10 am, PDF (People’s Defence Force) members killed the headmaster of the village post-primary school and kidnapped four female teachers. Moreover, they murdered the abbot of Tayzeindra Yama Monastery in the village.

According to the investigation by security forces, around 20 PDF members led by Tasay (aka) Aye Nyein Phyo arrived on 10 motorbikes at the village school at 2.20pm December 6 when the headmaster, four male teachers and six female teachers were teaching the students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 7. They rebuked the teachers for not joining the CDM (Civil Disobedience Movement) and shot the headmaster, who then died of a bullet wound at the scene. The PDFs also abducted four female teachers.

The PDF members then went to Tayzeindra Yama Monastery in the same village at about 2.45pm, and killed the 60-year-old abbot, the SAC information team reported.
