The villages are between 800 and 1,000 people, and almost all of the villages have houses destroyed, he added.

"All the houses were destroyed. There is nothing left to live for. The town of Maungdaw was damaged, but not as bad as the villages. As for the villages, they are quite damaged," he said.

Over 1,000 cattle died on Maungdaw-Ahngumaw road due to the storm.

"We have to cover our noses if we use that road, we shut up our noses. No one clean the dead cattle bodies. There’s a bit of a smell along the road. Moreover, there have been needs to remove the damages. There are many requirements comparing than the aids supply,” said the official.

Although the wards located in Maungdaw city had faced a little loss and damages, the villages located the upper areas of Yathadaung and Maungdaw townships suffered a big loss and casualties, according to the Maungdaw Township Compassion Network.
