Military tribunal sentences to death penalty and life imprisonment to those who committed terrorist acts and attended trainings in armed groups

YANGON-----Tatmadaw True News Information Team released a statement yesterday that those who had attended the training courses at ethnic armed groups killed the military supporters and bombed at the administrative offices across the country were given death penalty and life imprisonment on November 23rd.

The report also said that totaling 29 persons were given life in prison.

Among 29 defendants, 18 persons including Kyaw Moe Naing (aka) Maung Naing living in Shwe Lin Ban village, Hlaing Thaya Township (east), Yangon Region, had committed illegal acts such as destruction of houses and fences at squatter houses and threat of houses’ owners by receiving cash assistances at night of September 28th. So, the defendants were sentenced life in prison in accordance with Section 50(A) of Counter-Terrorism Law.

Moreover, Ye Htet out of 29 defendants had attended military training course being opened in the area of ethnic armed group starting from April 10th to 17th.That’s why he was sentenced life in prison under the Counter-Terrorism Law Section 50 (J).

Likewise, Maung Maung Kyaw Tint (aka) Bo Bo Kyaw was charged with Counter-Terrorism Law Section 50 (J) for supplying cash aids to CRPH, NUG and PDF since the beginning of February. The defendant namely Ye Htet Aung (aka) Ye Htet actively participated in the protests held in Yangon Region since the beginning of February. Moreover, he performed in assassination attempts to the informants and in bomb attacks.

The eight defendants including Aung Min Thu (aka) Ko Thu had attended the explosive training course being opened at the ethnic armed group area starting from April 28th. Later, they bombed at the relevant administrative offices.

Under the military tribunal and Martial Law, the authority conducted investigations and gave life in prison sentences to above 29 defendants.

On November 23rd, the military tribunal sentenced to death penalty to 21 defendants who shot and killed the ward administrator in Ward No.53 in Southern Dagon Myothit Township, Yangon Region, a hundred-household administrator in Ward No.57, a woman from Ward No.90 in Dagon Myothit Seikkan Township on August 19th and ward administrator and his driver from Ward No.88 in Dagon Myothit Seikkan Township on July 6th.

Moreover, the military tribunal sentenced to 20-year in prison with hard labour to Than Win Naing (aka) Pwa Gyi who had committed a murder of his friend living in the squatter ward in Ward No.26 in Southern Dagon Myothit Township on September 25th.

The report stated that the 23 criminal cases must be investigated under the military tribunal in the townships which are under Martial Law.
