Military declares State of Emergency by Article 417

The military declared that a state of emergency by issuing order No.1 2021 having the effect of law through Myawady TV this morning.

Vice President Myint Swe announced that he would serve as the acting president.

The announcement also reported that due to grave errors in the votes, failure to address the voting problems, failing to address the matters, denying to postpone the Pyithu Hluttaw and Amyotha Hluttaw as requested, and due to making arrangements to convene the Pyithu Hluttaw and as these issues are to take control of the power forcefully contrary to Section 417 of the Constitution Law which can thwart the national unity.

Due to these acts, protests took place across the country to show the distrust with the election commission. Other political parties and organizations demonstrated using the State Flags. These demonstrations have adverse effect on the state stability. These issues are not sloved the properly there will be difficulties on our way to democracy. In oder to solve the matters lawfully state of  emergency was declared as per Section 417 of the 2008 constitution.

The power to enact laws, administration and judicial power, including the revision and confirming of the voting results, has been given to the Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services as per Section 418 of the Constitution.

In addition the State of Emergency will have effect on the entire state and the state of emergency as per Section 417 of the constitution is valid for one year from the date of announcemnt.
