Farmers from middle and delta areas need to be careful as southwest monsoon wind is retreating from Myanmar and may bring more rain, said meteorologist Chit Kyaw.

According to the Department of Meteorology and Hydrology (DMH), the southwest monsoon wind will retreat from the whole country in early October.

The places with low rainfall in early and mid monsoon season may have more rain when the monsoon season retreats from Myanmar and it may damage crops.

“In some areas, rainfall may be heavy and it may damage crops in those areas as bean planters from delta areas sowed seeds in recent days,” he said.

In the second week of September, a low pressure area may form over the Bay of Bengal and if it is formed, the retreat of the monsoon season may be long and people need to be careful of more rain, he continued.
