MANDALAY-----Mandalay Regional Government Committee announced a statement on August 22nd that 9am-3:30pm curfew imposed in Mandalay district already has been lifted.

All seven townships in Mandalay were placed under Stay-At-Home order being issued by the Ministry of Health and Sports. The curfew order 9am-3:30pm started from July 4th to August 29th.

Mandalay is under the Stay at Home order as the number of positive cases and deaths increased in July. In early August, the numbers of cases and deaths have dropped slightly but there are daily reports of deaths by COVID-19 till now according to some social organizations.

Citizens included in the “Stay at Home” order are required to stay at home and only one person per house should go shopping except for those who go to work in government departments, organizations, companies and factories. If you have to go to a hospital or clinic, only two people per house are allowed. They have to wear a mask to go out of the house. Only vehicles that will transport personnel on duty and vehicles that are allowed to pass through are allowed to pass in the area. In addition to the driver, one more person is allowed in the vehicle for shopping in the neighborhood and only two more people are allowed in the vehicle to go to the hospital.

The announcement said if someone fails to comply with the rules and regulations of COVID-19, action will be taken.

The Mandalay regional government had issued a statement on August 13th that 9am-3:30pm curfew except government department, health and funeral affairs had been imposed in seven townships of Mandalay district. The order was longer in effect until August 29th. Citizens from seven townships in Mandalay were allowed to go shopping and outside between 4am-9am and 3:30pm-6pm.
