From October 1 to November 15 of this fiscal year, the total marine trade value hit 3.306 billion US dollars, up 216.021 million US dollars from last year, according to the figures from the Commerce Ministry. 

Last year, the total marine trade value reached 3.090 billion US dollars. In 2019-20 FY, the marine trade value is expected to hit 34 billion US dollars. The export sector is estimated to reach 18 billion US dollars, said Union Minister for Commerce Dr. Than Myint. 

The trade sector is estimated to improve in 2019-20 FY as the external trade sees many good potentials, said Aung Soe, Permanent Secretary of the Commerce Ministry, at The Global Value Chain and Economic Development, ADB-Asian Think Tank Development Forum 2019, at Park Royal Hotel in Yangon on October 22. 

Currently, Myanmar mainly exports farm produce, animal products, marine products, mining products, CMP and other products. 

The Commerce Ministry is working on the National Export Development Strategy for trade deficit, the relaxation of rules, encouragement to private sector and value-added production, tax exemption like GSP rights and the expansion of export market.
