Organized by Mandalay Gems & Jewellery Entrepreneurs Association and under the instruction of the Mandalay Region government, the first sale of uncut jade lots and jewellery was opened on October 23 and the first three days will be set a preview period for buyers.

On display are 2,985 table jade lots and uncut jade lots.

"On October 18 when we finalized the list, there were over 2,500 lots. Later, the number reached over 2,900. Despite the first sale, the number of those who applied for admission cards is about 5,000. In Nay Pyi Taw even, there were only about 1,500," said Kyaw Zaw Aung, chairman of the committee for organizing the sale.

The event is aimed at ensuring the convenience of gems dealers and the availability of raw materials. At the sale, there are 49 booths selling finished jade products and jewellery pieces. Anyone can visit those booths. For the viewers of uncut jade lots, they have applied for admission cards. Around 5,000 including 500 foreigners have received admission cards.

The products will be sold for Myanmar kyat. Foreigners can only buy finished jade lots and jewellery pieces.

The lots will be sold under a tender system from October 26 to 29. The basic price for them is K1 million.
