MAI launches Yangon-Mandalay-Novosibirsk maiden flight service

The launching ceremony of the maiden flight of Myanmar Airways International (MAI)’s Yangon-Mandalay-Novosibirsk route was held at the Terminal-1 CIP Lounge at the Yangon International Airport on September 5.

It was attended by Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism Daw Thet Thet Khaing, Yangon Region Chief Minister U Soe Thein, Commander of Yangon Command Maj-Gen Zaw Hein, Yangon Mayor U Bo Htay, Yangon Region Security and Border Affairs Minister Col. Win Tint, Yangon Region Road Transport Minister Police Brig-Gen Myo Min Htike, officials from Russia Embassy, MAI’s officials and its alliance companies.

Firstly, on behalf of Union Minister for Transport and Communications General Mya Tun Oo, Deputy Minister for Transport and Communications U Aung Kyaw Tun gave an opening remark. 

Later, the MAI started to fly from Yangon to Mandalay and continued to Novosibirsk of Russia Federation. 

“With the aims to promote long-term friendship relations between the Russian Federation and Myanmar, there is a special essential for the departments of the two governments, the hotel and tourism departments of the two countries and the travel and tour companies of the two countries to promote the tourism of the two countries by using their country’s existing traditional heritage, natural forest scenery, coastal beauty,” said U Tin Maung Than, Director of Coporate Affairs from MAI & Air KBZ.

The MAI will run twice a week on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Tourists will continue to visit across the countries, including the capital Moscow, using S7 flight from the city of Novosibirsk. Tourists from the Russian will also be able to enjoy this trip to connect not only to Myanmar, but also to other ASEAN countries operated by MAI.

The Director of Coporate Affairs from MAI & Air KBZ also said that to ensure the commodity flow between the two countries without focusing on profit, this new trip was started with the aim of serving as a basic bridge for the people of the two countries to travel and communicate with each other in business, trade, hotel and tourism, technical, health and service activities.
