Chief Minister of Magway Region Dr Aung Moe Nyo uploaded a post “Challenge to abolish the 2008 Constitution and to draw a new constitution again” on his Facebook account on October 31st.

Magway Chief Minister Dr Aung Moe Nyo is also one of the members of the Central Executive Committee of the ruling National League for Democracy (NLD). His Facebook account is also a blue marked account.

Before posting a post on his account, he also shared a post of Challenge to abolish the 2008-Constitution and to draw a new constitution-2008 as tagged on Nyeinchan Seinelann account.

Eleven Media Group had attempted to contact the Magway Chief Minister yesterday inquiring more but there was no reply.

Dr Myo Nyunt, NLD’s spokesperson, said that the comment about the Facebook Challenge of Dr Aung Moe Nyo’s account was only his personal opinion. The NLD didn’t decide on any policies on the Facebook challenge to abolish the 2008 Constitution.

The NLD issued an election manifesto 2020 in July calling for achieving peace and tranquility in the country and emergence of a genuine Federal Union being built on the principles of equal rights for ethnic groups.

The NLD’s spokesperson also said that the NLD’s election manifesto-2020 had updated its 2015 policies and would focus on health and education.

NLD’s election manifesto 2015 aimed for achieving peace in the country and amendment of the 2008 Constitution.

“NLD is now striving to amend the 2008 Constitution at the parliament. But, the situation among the constitution amendment process and redrawing of the constitution 2008 process after it had been abolished was very different in the parliament. Now, Dr Aung Moe Nyo said that there would be a redrawing process of the 2008 constitution. Is this his personal remark or NLD’s policy? It is very important because Dr Aung Moe Nyo’s remark was different from NLD's ongoing policies. So, we have questions whether his words were NLD policies,” said David Hla Myint, Chairman of United Nationalities Democracy Party.
