Loikaw Hospital accelerates preparations for COVID-19

LOIKAW- The Hospital in Loikaw Hospital, Kayah State, is now preparing 85 beds for Myanmar citizens who were returning from foreign countries by sea and air, according to the press conference held at the Loikaw People’s Hospital yesterday.

“We must receive the guidance laid down by the Ministry of Health and Sports. We are going to open the gates for our peoples. However, we need to systematically monitor them. So also we urged the Immigration Department to take the phone numbers and address of those returnees. Moreover, the village authorities are need to help us,” said Dr Htay Lwin, Director of the Health Department in Kayah State.

As there are not enough health workers, the health department’s director requested the Red Cross Association, Immigration Department, General Administrative Department as well as Fire Services and Police Force to monitor those returnees coming from Thailand and Malaysia through the border gates.

At present, Kayah State has prepared health and governmental buildings for quarantine purposes.

The Kayah State Government Committee already funded over Ks 97 million to buy medicines and medical supplies.

Now, about 300 PPE suits are being needed for the health staff.

Since the beginning of February 1st, 10 suspected patients were found and were quarantined at the Loikaw Hospital with eight of them not showing any virus.
