Liquid chemicals worth over Ks230m seized in Kutkai

Liquid chemicals worth over Ks230 million were seized from a 12-wheel UD Nissan parked near Man Byain Village, Kutkai Township, Muse District, northern Shan State, at about 2pm on December 9, according to a press release issued by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC-Myanmar).

A combined team comprising security personnel searched a 12-wheel Nissan UD HGV being stopped near Man Byain Village, Kutkai Township at 2 p.m. on December 9, 2021 and apprehended the driver Myo Min Thant @ Doe Lone, Wei Phyo Aung, Zaw Nyein Tun, aged 31, 19 and 36 along with illicitly transported chemical liquid: 6,800 litres of Sulfurous dichloride and 4,200 litres of dimethyl sulfate with a local value of over Ks230 million on the vehicle.

Kyaw Soe and Wei Lwin, aged 50 and 58, who were both in charge of such transportation, were subsequently under arrest in a Toyota Mark II vehicle being halted in the vicinity of the abovementioned place.

They were thus taken into legal action under the Prevention of Hazard from Chemical and Related Substances Law. Necessary measures to investigate concatenations are ongoing, CCDAC Myanmar reported.
