NAUNGPAIN- Preparations are underway to welcome State Counsellor Daw Aung San Suu Kyi are being carried out in Lashio Township, northern Shan State.

The State Counsellor will be visiting Lashio Township on March 10th and she will meet with the locals.

“Preparatory measures are being made in the City Hall. And then, a live broadcast of State Counsellor’s peace talk with the locals will be launched,” said Nay Myo from Lashio.

He also said that those attendees must be received health screening.

“We didn’t know exactly about the State Counsellor’s visit. She will be arriving at the City Hall in the morning of March 10th. It surely isn't. We know that she would proceed to the Lashio Hospital and then she would meet with the locals at the City Hall in Lashio Township. But, news about the State Counsellor’s visit isn’t released,” said Manager Hlaing Htoo from Cherry FM in Lashio.

Suu Kyi also met with the locals from Kayin, Chin and Shan States last month.

Among the tour programs of the State Counsellor in March, the visit in Kachin State isn’t sure.

The Ministry of Health and Sports warned on February 23rd people to avoid mass gatherings and festivals as much as possible, despite the absence of any local cases so far, emphasizing that with the number of infections still rising in China, a local outbreak was still possible.

Moreover, the Health Ministry declared no COVID-19 patients had been found in Myanmar.
