A large haul of heroin worth over Ks5.2 billion was seized in Mawlamyine, Mon State, on October 14, according to police sources.

Acting on a tip-off, a combined team comprising the local police and the anti-drug squad had been awaiting at the detour in Mawlamyine on October 14. At about 7pm, the team stopped and searched a six-wheeled CNANA truck driven by Han Swe Oo (a.k.a) Bo Bo and Chit Ko Ko Oo (a.k.a) Mut Tar on board, and a Succeed driven by Aung Hsan Thwin (a.k.a) Aung Hsan and Myo Min Thein and Khin Zaw Aung on board. Then, 227 blocks of heroin weighing 96.95 kilos and 35 kilos of heroin powder worth an estimate of over Ks5.2 billion hidden in the cabbages from the truck were seized.  

According to the questioning, the drugs were carried from Shan State (South) to Taninthayi Region.

In connection with the case, the five persons including Han Swe Oo have been filed by the police force concerned in Mawlamyine under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances Law.
