Tatmadaw has to retreat from Nant Kuk army base in Monekoe Township and Le Long army base in Waingmaw Township due to the attack by the KIA with a large number of forces, and Tatmadaw is trying to recapture the bases, announced the information team of the State Administration Council (SAC).

The forces under the KIA Brigade No.6 and the joint forces attacked the Nant Kuk army base, which is located about 10 miles southwest of Monekoe, Muse District in northern Shan State, by a large force from three locations at about 6:30 am on October 19. The security forces in the camp fought back against the attack, but due to the large number of forces, they had to withdraw from the camp at about 4:30 pm before the reinforcements arrived. They are working to recapture the base by joining the reinforcement military columns, it said.

On that attack, the counterattacks were carried out with the help of artillery and aerial support to the KIA Brigade No.6 position, and a checkpoint of the KIA was seized along with some bodies of KIA troops, and security operations are continuing, it said.

In addition, the KIA and joint forces based in Mitesapa, the outpost of KIA headquarters in Laiza, Kachin State, Waingmaw Township, attacked the Le Long army base near Nansanyang Village, which serves as the control station of Bhamo-Waingmaw road, from July 8 to October 20 for 81 times. The security forces at the base retaliated with artillery and aerial support, but on October 20 at around 3:00 pm, they retreated from the base due to a large number of forces and are working to recapture the base in cooperation with reinforcements, according to a statement from the SAC.
