The staff of Khamti People’s Hospital (100-bed) in Sagaing Region issued a statement on February 8 saying that they will not accept new patients except emergency patients and those who are critically ill.  

According to the statement, already hospitalized patients will continue receiving treatment but no more will not be accepted. It urges new patients to go to nearby military hospitals. 

All the staff of Khamti Hospital have stopped working under the current government that has taken over State power as of February 8 in support of the ongoing civil disobedience movement (CDM). 

The statement however says critically ill patients and emergency patients will be accepted for treatment. Moreover, the staff under the public health department will stop providing public healthcare services, immunization and book-keeping.

The doctors from Khamti Hospital will continue to accept and treat emergency patients while supporting CDM and red ribbon movement (RRMM), the statement says.
