Ketamine worth over 87.4 billion kyats seized in Yebyu Town

Security forces seized 2.3 tons of ketamine worth 87.4 billion kyats near Ahlesakham village, Yebyu Township, Dawei District, Taninthayi Region, according to a statement released yesterday by the Central Committee for Drug Abuse Control (CCDAC-Myanmar).

Acting on a tip-off, the security combined force carried out the checks near Ahlesakham village, Yebyu Township. They stopped and searched the SSINOTTUK TIPPER vehicle driven by Khin Zaw along with his assistant Aung Kyaw Oo en route from Ye to Dawei. 

The search led to the seizure of 87.4 billion kyats’ worth of 2.3 tons of ketamine covered with salt bags. 

Then, Ma Ni Ni Hlaing, who participated in transporting the drug ketamine, was also arrested with a vehicle near Zarthapyin Bridge on Hpa-an- Mawlamyine road , on the evening of November 23. 

According to the investigation, the drugs were to be transported from Shan State to Taninthayi Region.

The suspects have been filed for legal action and investigation is going on to expose and arrest further accomplices, CCDAC Myanmar announced.
