When it comes to the charges against State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi, the judge will rule with rationality, said State Administration Council Chairman Commander-in-Chief of Defence Services Senior General Min Aung Hlaing.

He made the remark during an interview conducted by Ms. Kukushkina Tatiana, special reporter of RIA news agency of Russia, in Moscow on June 24.

The reporter asked what kinds of criminal cases could be adopted to punish her as she faces lawsuits. She also asked if there were any demands made by foreign countries over such allegations against Aung San Suu Kyi.

“It’s hard to say because I’m not a judge. The judge will make decisions over accusations of her at the trial based on rationality. Prosecution organizations sued her depending on their findings. But, the judge will make decisions after an inquiry,” the SAC chairman said.

Since political changes in Myanmar after February 1 this year, State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi has been charged under section 505 (a) of the penal code, section 3 (1) (c)/9 of state official secrets act, section 25 of the natural disaster management law, section 8 of the export/import law and section 67 of the telecommunications law.
