JICA explains water supplying projects to Ygn parliament

YANGON-Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) said that Lagunbyin and Kokawa water supplying projects would be finished in 2027, according to MP Kyaw Zeya from No.2 Constituency, Dagon Township.

JICA’s officials explained the implementation of Kokawa and Lagunbyin water supplying projects being involved in Yangon Multipurpose development report to the officials from Yangon City Development Committee on May 28th.

“We asked JICA about the water supplying projects. The Yangon Multipurpose development report said that two water supplying projects would be completed in 2018. The projects can cost thousands of million kyats. We didn’t refuse the two projects which are ODA Loan Project of the JICA. The JICA said that the projects would be finished in 2027. But, we, MPs said that the water would be available before 2020. That’s why it is very disappointing result,” said MP Kyaw Zeya.

Lagunbyin water project will provide 40 million gallons of water per day to Thilawa, four townships in Dagon Myothit Township, Tharkayta and Dawbon Townships.

Likewise, Kokawa project will supply 180 million gallons per day to Hlaingthayar Township and the western district.

The Yangon Multipurpose report stated that the water supplying projects would be completed in 2018.
