ISOS Clinic and Inya Lake Hotel enter lockdown

YANGON-After a nurse tested positive with COVID-19 (Case-15) from the International SOS Clinic opened at Inya Lake Hotel in Yangon, the clinic and the hotel itself have been cordoned off.

“We locked Inya Lake Hotel down because the Myanmar nurse that worked at the ISOS clinic in Inya Hotel tested positive for COVID-19. There are 90 guests in the hotel as well as 43 clinic staff. There are 73 hotel staff. We have reported the case to the Regional Government Committee. And then, there are foreigner guests at the hotel,” said MP Yan Shin from Mayangon Township.

Concerning the confirmed COVID-19 case 15, the ISOS clinic was closed since March 15th.

The Ministry of Health and Sports announced a statement on March 31st that 1 45-year-old woman (Case-15) from the private hospital in Yangon, tested positive for COVID-19.

The new confirmed case (Case-15) had no travel history in the past 14 days, bringing the total number of confirmed cases to 15, according to the announcement.

The announcement also reported that the patient (Case-15) living in Bahan Township, is a staff from the private hospital which provides health care services to the foreigners. On March 27th, she started suffering from fever, sore throat and cough. On March 30th, she went to the Bahan Township Public Health Department which referred her to Yangon West Hospital. She was monitored and isolated at the hospital. Now, she will be moved to Waibargi Specialist Hospital and she is in good health.

There are 44 new Persons Under Investigation (PUI) until 6pm of March 31st.

Currently, 13 patients being isolated at the respective hospitals are in stable condition.

One (Case-5) out of two confirmed patients being treated at the ICU of Waibargi Specialist Hospital, died on March 31st.
