Some international schools in Yangon have started online teaching after the temporary shutdown due to the Covid-19.

The temporarily-closed schools are Yangon International School, Royal British International School, the British School, Yangon American School, Thalun International School and ILBC.

Ma Grace, Marketing Assistant at The British School said: “According to the policy of the office in the UK, the school is closed. The school is temporarily closed till 30 April. If there are some changes due to the various circumstances, the shutdown period will take longer. We have a plan to reopen our school in May if the situation returns to normalcy.”

Ma Grace said: “The school distributed students Ipad and Laptops and will conduct face-to-face online teaching from 8 am to 3 pm every day”

Some foreign teachers from the international schools went home as the British government urged its citizens to leave Myanmar.

The schools will temporarily close from 18 March to 30 April.

A parent from the school said: “Normally, my daughter’s school is closed in June. Due to the temporary shutdown, the school starts online teaching today.”
