Illegal timbers, goods, vehicles worth over Ks350m seized in some regions and states

As per information released by the Illegal Trade Eradication Committee on June 19, over 350 million kyats’ worth of illegal timber of various kinds, foodstuffs, household goods, controlled chemical products,  and motor vehicles were seized in some regions and states of Myanmar.

Upon inspecting five warehouses between 112th street and rail tracks under the management of Mandalay Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Squad, household goods, kitchenware and household electrical appliances worth about Ks185,339,000 were seized on June 15.

Likewise on June 16 a truck with 4.2876 tons of timber worth Ks300,132 were seized at the entrance to Zaygaba compound in Yangon East District.  The truck was valued at 30 million kyats so the total amount seized was Ks303,000,132.

On June 17, 8,000 kilograms of ammonium nitrate worth 19,200,000 kyats were seized in Paung Township. In addition while an inspection team was on task at the Mayanchaung permanent inspection gate 325 cartons of Lacrasoy Soymilk worth Ks1,835,000 were seized so the total amount seized was Ks 21,035,000.

Likewise while an inspection team under the management of Kayin State Illegal Trade Eradication Special Squad was at inspection task at the Kawkareik Combined Inspection Centre 300 Electric Frying Pans worth Ks2,250,000, which was in excess of the amount declared in the ID, were seized.

On June 17 while carrying out inspection tasks in Bago Township various foodstuffs worth Ks47, 348, 000 were seized from two twelve-wheeled trucks valued at about Ks50,000,000. Action is being taken as per customs procedures. On June 18 a combined inspection team led by the Region Forest Department was on duty in Toungoo and Thayarwady Districts, 8.97 tons of illegal timber worth Ks2,746,520 were seized and action has been taken as per timber laws. The total amount seized was Ks100,094,520.

On June 18 an inspection team led by Myanmar Police Force under the management of Sagaing Region Illegal Trade Eradication Special Squad seized illegal 294 gallons of gasoline and 156 gallons of diesel oil worth Ks5,047,600 in Shwebo and Wetlet townships and action was taken as per Petroleum and Petroleum Products law. Sagaing Township so the total amount seized added up to Ks8, 047, 600.
