According to the information released by the Anti-Illegal Trade Committee on June 5, over 14 million kyats’ worth of illegal timber of various kinds and household goods were seized in Yangon and Bago Regions.
While a customs inspection team of the division of illegal trade eradication under the management of the Customs Department at the Myanmar Industrial Port container inspection centre on June 3, about 5,328,000 kyats’ worth of BABY WIPES that had in excess if the amount declared ID, and the goods were seized to be taken action on as per customs procedure.
Likewise while the Region Forest Department under the management of Bago Region Anti-Illegal Trade Special Squad was on inspection task on June 3 seized within Toungoo District about 3,750,120 kyats’ worth of 7.544 tons of illegal teak, and in June 4 seized about 4,943,442 kyats’ worth of various kinds of illegal timber weighing 13.9446 tons and a further 8,693,562 kyats worth illegal timber of various kinds weighing 21.4886 tons.
The seized illegal timbers and goods in 18 cases were worth 14,021,562 kyats in total.
