The Yangon Electricity Supply Corporation (YESC) has announced that major hospitals are being given priority access to electricity through the use of a gas turbine during an ongoing system breakdown.
According to YESC, the power outage occurred at 12:48 pm. on April 2 due to a fault in the 230 kV Minhla–Myaungtaka transmission line, which led to a disruption in the national power grid. Efforts are currently underway to restore electricity as quickly as possible.
During the outage, a gas turbine at the Ahlone power plant in Yangon Region is being operated independently to ensure continuous electricity supply to major hospitals. YESC stated that this measure is intended to minimize the impact of the disruption on critical healthcare services while restoration work continues.
