Homeowner killed, wife seriously injured in deadly robbery at Thukha Dagon Housing Estate

A violent robbery in an apartment at theThukha Dagon housing estate in Dagon Myothit (South), Yangon, left one person dead and another seriously injured in the early hours of June 21.

According to a local social assistance group that responded to the emergency, two thieves broke into the home through the back door around 3 a.m., believing the apartment was empty. However, they were confronted by the homeowners during the attempted theft.

In the ensuing struggle, the male homeowner was stabbed 23 times and died at the scene. His wife sustained seven stab wounds and was rushed to Sanpya General Hospital. Although seriously injured, her condition is reported as not life-threatening.

A representative from the social assistance team stated, “We were contacted for emergency aid and arrived to find a tragic scene. The thieves entered the home through the back, encountered the residents, and a violent confrontation followed.”

Police have since arrested both suspects involved in the incident. An investigation is currently underway.
