Naypyidaw -  The  government will provide support for the capital required for solar energy projects aimed at generating electricity, according to the Chairman of the State Administration Council (SAC)  Senior General Min Aung Hlaing, during a meeting with the Union Government in Naypyidaw on January 17.

In his address, the Chairman of SAC highlighted that solutions for irrigation water needs include rainwater, reservoir water, groundwater, and river water. Regions near major rivers can implement river water irrigation schemes to promote agricultural development. He also pointed out that solar energy can be utilized to meet the electricity needs of river irrigation projects.

The Senior General emphasized that, similar to ongoing solar projects led by the government, private sector operators can also implement solar initiatives tailored to their specific needs. The government is committed to assisting with the required investment for such solar energy ventures.

Furthermore, he underscored the importance of modern agricultural systems, urging a shift from traditional methods to more systematic, sustainable farming practices. This transition will require human resources skilled in modern agricultural techniques. The Senior General called for collective efforts to foster skilled human resources in various regions to improve agricultural expertise.

The government remains committed to supporting these initiatives to advance the country's agricultural sector and energy sustainability.

In addition, the last step in the process is to conduct a population and housing census to ensure a free and fair general election. According to the data collected, the population is declining and is only about 51 million. This is due to the declining birth rate, the increasing number of people leaving for foreign countries for various reasons, and the number of deaths for various reasons, he continued.

The decline in population has led to a shortage of domestic workers, which may have an impact on the conduct of elections to some extent. Preparations for the elections are underway to ensure peace and order and the rule of law. We urge everyone to continue to work hard to create a situation where elections can be held. The Pyithu Hluttaw, Amyotha Hluttaw, Region and State Hluttaws must be able to hold their sessions in accordance with the standards and must be dignified, he added.

Moreover, regarding national disaster management, the National Disaster Management Fund is planning to provide necessary support to people who are temporarily displaced due to attacks by terrorists involved in natural disasters. The National Disaster Management Fund is being prepared to provide necessary support to regions and states. We must make every effort to improve the national economy and the welfare of the general public. Politics is not economics, but economics is politics and national affairs. If the economy is strong, then politics, economics, social affairs, and defense will be strong, so everyone must work together to strengthen the national economy, he added.

Later,  Nay Pyi Taw Council chairman, region and state chief ministers reported on plans to grow monsoon paddy and oil crops, expansion of sown acreage, production and export measures, basic more coverage of healthcare, operation of industrial zones, foreign trade and earning of foreign currency, taxation, enhancement of tourism sector, electrification process, and disbursement of loans from the State economic promotion fund.

Also present at the meeting were SAC Vice-Chairman Deputy Prime Minister Vice-Senior General Soe Win, union ministers, union-level dignitaries and officials together with region and state chief ministers through videoconferencing.
