Gold shop owner abducted in Thaketa Township; authorities investigate disappearance and theft

In Thaketa Township, a gold shop owner was abducted by a group of people on the morning of March 18, according to the local administrative authorities.

The incident occurred in Thaketa Township's Ward 2, Htupayon Street (West), where the female gold shop owner was forcibly taken by four individuals from an Alphard-type vehicle.

"Yes, the incident did happen. So far, we haven't received any further information about the woman. The investigation is still ongoing," said a source close to the Thaketa Township administrative body.

The woman, identified as Daw Sandar Lin (aka Mi Htok), is originally from Manaung and has been running a gold shop named Lin Let Shwe Sin in Thaketa Township's Market No. 1 for about seven years, according to a source close to her.

"She is from Manaung. She has been running the gold shop in Market No. 1 for about six to seven years," said a source close to the woman.

The woman was abducted at around 8:45 a.m. while leaving her home to go to the market to open her gold shop. She was taken near the street corner.

"According to the neighbours, the girl was also heard shouting and calling for help. The relevant authorities are continuing their investigation. It is still unclear how much gold was taken," said a source close to the Thaketa Township security team.
