A jewelry shop in Pyigyitagon Township in Mandalay city was dacoited at about 2pm on July 24 and a viss (3.6 pounds) of gold was taken away, local sources said.

Two men arrived on a motorbike, entered Maw Thit gold shop on 125th street between 58th and 59th streets, Ward-F in Pyigyitagon Township, fired around three pistol shots and took away all the gold and cash.

In the robbery, a bullet went through the instep of the jewelry shop security guard. The robbers escaped with over one viss of gold and about 6 million kyats in cash.

That jewelry shop was already robbed once towards the end of 2021, with loss of gold. This was the second time that the jewelry shop was dacoited.
