NAYPYITAW--------Senior General Than Shwe (Retired), that had also acted as the Chairman of State Peace and Development Council, and his wife, casted their advance votes for General Election 2020 yesterday at his residence in Pubbathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area.

A team led by the Chairman of Nay Pyi Council Area election commission carried out advanced balloting.

“He casted the vote himself. We stayed away from him because we didn’t want to disturb him while voting. We didn’t ask him. He is still in good health. He stamped his early ballot,” said Thein Htwe, chairman of Nay Pyi Taw Council Area election sub-commission.

He also said that the Nay Pyi Taw election sub-commission collected early ballots at “Chauk Lone Tan Housing” (Six Grand Homes) in Pubbathiri Township, Nay Pyi Taw Council Area, on the same day.

The Chauk Lone Tan housing is inhabited by men who held the most senior positions in the military regime, including the ex-senior general Than Shwe.

There were a total of 37 elderly voters in Chauk Lone Tan Housing: 20 from retired Senior General Than Shwe’s house, seven from retired vice senior general Maung Aye’s house, four from former president Thein Sein’s House and six from ex-chairman of Union Election Commission Tin Aye’s house.
