State Counsellor Aung San Suu Kyi said in her televised speech to the public on October 26 that even though Myanmar faced COVID-19, foreign investment is still faring far better than some of the neighbouring countries, reaching 98 percent of the projected target for 2020.

“We can say that despite COVID-19, our expectation in foreign investment for this year reached 98 percent at present, and there are 2 more months to finish 2020, and within these two months, the required 2 percent will be reached. Most of the neighboring countries’ situation is more critical than Myanmar. I said these words not to hurt the neighbouring countries.  Even if the 2 percent can’t be completed in the next 2 months, we can say that we can reach 98 percent despite facing COVID-19,” said Aung San Suu Kyi.

As the General Election for 2020 is getting nearer, preparatory measures are being made for the successful convening of the election. Required health care materials are being ordered from China and arrangements are being made to make these materials arrive before election.

At present, materials are arriving daily via air lines and they will be distributed in entire nations, continued State Counsellor.
