Although the water level in Taungoo has slightly receded, several areas still have not received aid.

It has been reported that a member of the Shin Paw Lu Charity Group, who was involved in flood relief efforts, has tragically died, according to local groups providing assistance in Taungoo Township, Bago Region.

“One person has passed away. He was from the Shin Paw Lu charity group,” confirmed an official from a flood relief organization in Taungoo.

The deceased, identified as 26-year-old Saw Naw Gyi, lost his life after being swept away by strong currents while in the water.

Despite the water subsiding slightly, some areas remain inaccessible due to delayed rescue operations.

"Volunteers are now prioritizing these areas and providing assistance," said Kyaw Thu Ya from the Save The Trees Rescue Team in Taungoo Township.

“The water level has started to go down, but there are places we couldn’t reach when the water was higher. These areas have been cut off for three to four days, and the people there are facing hardships. During the peak of the flooding, those areas were very dangerous, with strong currents and whirlpools. Now, we’re trying to reach them,” Kyaw Thu Ya added.

The affected areas include villages like Kan Bar Ni, Naung Bo, and Naung Cho, located about four miles from Taungoo Township.

These villages have been without food and drinking water for around three to four days due to the severe flooding.
