Five people, including a 5-year-old girl, shot and killed in Khin Oo

Five people, including a 5-year-old girl, were shot and killed in Pyin Htaung village, Khin Oo, Sagaing Region on October 1st, according to local residents.

After hearing reports that People’s Defense Forces (PDFs) have arrived in Pyin Htaung village, security forces arrived at the village on the morning of October 1st. Consequently, residents of Pyin Htaung were forced to flee and hide in panic. Five residents, including a 5-year-old girl, were shot and killed while they were trying to flee and hide, according to reports of some local residents.

The father of the 5-year-old girl is a member of the military. The 5-year old girl, named Ma Myo Thandar Hlaing, was living with her mother in Pyin Htaung village while her father was stationed in a different location.

Some residents of Khin Oo claim that the five people were shot dead by the security forces while some pages on social media claim that the PDFs are responsible for these murders. Eleven Media Group was unable to reach SAC’s Information Team for comment or confirmation regarding this matter. There have been conflicting reports and heated arguments on social media on who is responsible for these murders.
