Vice President Henry Van Thio said fishery products have a good prospect among export products from Myanmar in a coordination meeting on the development of fishery and sugar industries held in Nay Pyi Taw on October 9, according to Ministry of Information.

Out of the export items of the country, the most prospective and least limitation items are the fisheries products.

Myanmar needs factories to produce good quality fishery products in fishery and livestock sector, to require funds to modernize livestock methods and to have good price for value-added products, said Htay Myint, Chairman of Myanmar Fisheries Federation (MFF).

Myanmar earned US$728.257 million from fisheries products’ export from October 1 to September 30 in 2018-19 FY, according to the MFF.

Myanmar exported 590,094.93 metric tons of fisheries products worth US$720.02 million from April 1 2018 to March 31 2019.

Dr Toe Nandar Tin, Vice Chairman of the MFF said Myanmar needs to transform fishery sector to improve fishery resources development.
