Female traffic police officer shot during vehicle inspection in Mandalay

A female traffic police officer was shot between 124th and 125th Streets on 62nd Street in Pyigyitagon Township, Mandalay Region, yesterday evening, according to sources.

The incident occurred while a team led by Traffic Police Officer Thingi Win was conducting a vehicle inspection in Pyigyitagon Township, Section (A). 

Two unidentified men on a CZI-brand motorbike, with its color and license plate still under investigation, approached from the north. 

One of the men then shot Lt. Traffic Police Officer Pue Pwint Zaw with a short-barreled firearm.

The bullet entered the back of her right arm and exited through her chest, resulting in a serious injury. She was taken to Mandalay General Hospital (1) for treatment.

Authorities are actively pursuing the suspects involved in the shooting, according to a report.

It has also been noted that daily traffic and road regulation checks are being conducted at intersections and traffic lights throughout Mandalay, along with ongoing operations for arrests and law enforcement.
