Myanmar earns around 10 per cent of the garment value as the garment industry runs its operation under a CMP system.

The export earnings from the local garment industry increased from one billion US dollars in 2012-13 FY to three billion US dollars in 2017-2018 FY. During five years, the export earnings increased threefold.

Many CMP factories in Myanmar have to rely mainly on raw materials from China. Currently, the supply of raw materials has stopped due to the spreading of Covid-19 in China.

Garment, bag, shoes and electronic parts CMP factories are facing the risk for the shortage of raw materials.
