Export earnings from bean and pulses hit 74 million dollars

From October 1 to November 2 of 2018-2019 fiscal year, Myanmar earned US$ 74 million from exports of 0.17 million tones of bean and pulses, up US$ 39 million against the same period last year, according to Commerce Ministry.

Myanmar earned over US$ 64 million from exports of over 0.15 million tons of bean and pulses via sea route and over US$ nine million from exports of over 0.01 million tons via border trade.

Myanmar mainly exports beans to China, Singapore, Pakistan, Thailand, Malaysia, Vietnam and Bangladesh.

Myanmar exported 1.2 million tons of bean worth US$ 1,215 million in 2015-2016 FY, 1.4 million tons worth about US$ 1,399 million in 2016-2017 FY and 1.3 million tons worth about US$ 887 million in 2017-2018 FY and about 800,000 tons worth US$ 397 million from April to September, 2018, according to Commerce Ministry.

From October 1 to November 2 of 2018-2019 FY, Myanmar earned about US$ 54 million from exports of over 10,000 tones Mung bean and over US$ nine million from exports of over 10,000 tons green gram.

Mung bean has topped the list of bean exports, followed by green gram and pigeon pea.
