Explosion at a car parking in a condo in Mayangone kills two security guards

Two security guards were killed in an explosion in the parking lot of a condominium in No.2 Ward, Mayangone Township at around 5:30 pm on September 5, according to residents.

The bomb struck shortly after noon in the parking lot of a condominium on Bawga Theikdi Road.

One of the two security guards who died at the condo was lying on his back and the other was in a prone position, with amputation of his leg and a ruptured abdomen, in a photo spread around in social media.

A resident of No.2 Ward said, "The explosion was very loud. The condo where the explosion occurred is behind our house. We do not know why the explosion occurred in the condo. I heard two security guards were killed."

After the explosion, a search was conducted in and around the area and on Bawga Theikdi Road.

A search on a building on Padauk Shwe War Road, Thamine Myothit (1) Ward, behind Thamine Myo Thit Station, led to a shootout at around 9 am on August 23 and four people were arrested.
