Electoral staffers and their families test positive for COVID-19 in Ygn

 YANGON-----A total of 83 people: Chairman of Yangon north district election sub-commission and other districts election sub-commission members and their families already have been infected with coronavirus, says Tin Maung Aye, secretary of Yangon Region election sub-commission.

“Those infected persons are now receiving medical treatments at the relevant COVID-19 treatment centers in accordance with the guidelines of the Ministry of Health and Sports,” said Tin Maung Aye.

Kyi Myint, Chairman of Yangon Region election sub-commission, also said that the members of election sub-commission had been infected with CPOVID-19. So, those who had a close contact with the infected election sub-commissions’ members were under quarantine and made swab tests. But, their swab results were negative twice.

Those infected persons were the Chairman of election sub-commission in Yangon north district, the chairpersons of election sub-commissions from other townships in Yangon Region and their family members and polling staffers, according to the announcement of Yangon Region election sub-commission.

The announcement also reported that the chairman of Yangon north district election sub-commission had been infected with coronavirus on Nov-8 Election Day and the following day.

The electoral staffers from Yangon Region election sub-commission were infected by the COVID-19 when they were carrying out the duties for General Election-2020. The Yangon Region election sub-commission said that the new cases may have remained because the remaining staffers had no symptoms of virus and then they[election-sub commission] didn’t know the final list of infected persons and transmission to another one.
