MANDALAY----Eight staffers from Mandalay Regional Election sub-commission already tested positive for COVID-19. So, all staffs from the sub-commission office are now in under quarantine so also their swabs are being tested.
The Mandalay Regional Auditor who checked the voting results at the office of Mandalay Region election sub-commission had been infected with COVID-19 and then seven staffs who had a close contact with the regional auditor tested positive for the coronavirus.
“The staffers from election sub-commission office tested positive for coronavirus. We carried out medical checkups for all staffs. Moreover, plans are underway to keep them[staffs] under quarantine,” said Shein Win, the chairman of Mandalay region election sub-commission.
“The officials requested us to send the COVID patients to the hospital. So, we sent them to the Labour Hospital from the Mandalay Regional election sub-commission office,” said an official from Yinbattu Brothers Rescue Team in Mandalay Region.
There are 3,033 COVID-19 confirmed cases in Mandalay Region until November 15th. Among them, 2,044 were recovered.
The COVID-19 confirmed cases surged in Mandalay Region and the number reaches to nearly 100 per day. Moreover, the teachers who had served at the polling station, special police members as well as staffs from Township General Administrative Office and wards’ leaders had been infected with coronavirus.
At present, the Quarantine centers are packed with the primary contacts. So, plans are underway to convert the basic education high schools into the quarantine centers.
