A taxi was taken away after the driver had been killed in the city of Mandalay on October 2, according to local sources.
Warnings that both a car and driver went missing were posted on the Facebook page of Ayay Kyo in that morning.
The post quoted a family member saying that his brother left home at about 7am after his car was hired for a pilgrimage tour in the city. But then, contact with him was lost and his mobile phone switched off. When the hotel where the guests who hired the taxi was checked, it was learnt that a man himself drove the car to the hotel and checked out. But the driver was not found, the post said.
In the late evening, Shwe Myintzu aid organization received information by phone that a man at the age of about 30 was found dead with stab wounds to his left chest and right calf at the corner of Industrial Park Street and 128th Street, behind Pyigyitagon Township Electric Power Corporation. The organization sent the dead body to Mandalay General Hospital.
Later, the dead body was identified as the taxi driver who went missing in the morning, his family members confirmed.
