MONYWA-Some Internal Displaced Persons (IDPs) are now arriving in some villages of Pale Township, Yinmarpin District, Sagaing Region but their children are facing the difficulties in taking part the exams, says MP Zaw Htet from No.1 Constituency in Pale Township.

Those IDPs come from Kyaukme and Nantsam Townships in Shan State and they arrived in Pale Township after connecting their relatives.

“On December 1st, I heard the news that the IDPs arrived in Pale Township. There are about three households comprising over 20 family members. Mainly, there have been students. As the fighting took place in their area, schools were closed. Although the IDPs children have a chance to attend the class in our Township, they can’t take part the exam because they didn’t bring the School Transfer Certificates. So, they faced difficulties. We are now going to discuss about taking part the exams with the relevant Township Education Officer. If the discussion will be failed, we are going to discuss this affair with the Regional Social Welfare Minister. Finally, we will be asking about education of the IDP children at the Parliament,” said MP Zaw Htet.

Some IDPs who are currently taking a shelter in Pale Township said that the ethnic armed group informed the family members that they wanted to recruit the children as their members. So, the families fled to safer places.

Likewise, some IDPs from Kyaukme Township said that they fled to Pale Township because heavy weapons fell down in their village.

“I came from Myothit village in Namtsam Township. I fled to the Pale because I can’t give my child to the armed group which wanted to recruit the new members to the armed group. I am going to the ethnic armed group in March accompanied with my child. The ethnic armed group has to recruit the several members to the club. If they offer their group as a new member, we must give our children. I have two students. But, my children have no chance to take part the exams because we didn’t receive the school transfer certificates,” said one of the IDPs in Pale Township.

There are totaling 28 IDPs taking a shelter in Pale Township.
